I guess I'm in the minority in that I pretty much only listen to pre-90's Tom Waits. I appreciate the direction he's gone in since then, but I just love classic crooner Tom.

I agree with you. I love most of the songs on Rain Dogs, but it's just not as cohesive as most of his other albums. I, as well, prefer Swordfishtrombones for the same reason.

Let's not forget composer, actor, and playwrite. His plays and operas completely sell out in Europe, but they continue to be one of those things the US just "doesn't get".
