Maybe tonight was the wrong night, don't you think?
To confront your love when you've had too much to drink,
Your words stumble over themselves,
You stutter your T's, and you slur your L's,
She's not impressed by that can of Fosters in your hand
Her mates think you're shit, while you think you're grand,

Tonight was the wrong night, it's new years eve
the countdown is approaching and you have to leave
you try to kiss her, but you smell too much like rebellion
she wants you, not some scummy underage hellion

Tonight is the first night you sense something wrong,
you need to put on a fresh set of clothes and change the song,
you really aren't getting anywhere without a shower
drinks fly in the air, you crash out on the stairs, as it passes the twelfth hour,

Tomorrow it's a bad head and you're wondering what you've done
You check how many messages you sent her, realise you jumped the gun,
said a lot of things that you shouldn't have said,
maybe it would have been better if you would have spent the night in bed,

(It's New years eve and you didn't receive your kiss.)

Every time I think messages I think myspace. Letters or notes would sound better unless he was getting at myspace, then its fine.

I just meant text messages... how would you send a letter to someone for them to receive it on the same night?! If you know how, then I want to use your postal service.
