Default I maintain that a travelcard was a good investment

Bored
Wait at the bus stop
Watch the rain
Vans and lorries
Fly by in a hurry
Wheels kick up a spray

Female student
Blond hair and woolly hat
At a crossing she waits
Passing car
Hits a puddle and soaks her
She won’t stand
So close to the road again

Ugly rectangular palace
Of metal and glass
You keep me safe from the rain

As I stand here in the bus stop
Cool and dry in the bus stop
Here until the bus stops

Bored
It’s been half an hour
No sign of a bus
Cars, taxis
Fly by in a hurry
None of them carrying us

Sentences smeared
On public glasswork
By uninspired teens
I consider
Dialling the number
Below the phrase
“For horny bum sex ring”

Ugly rectangular palace
Of metal and glass
You keep me safe from the rain

I stand here in the bus stop
Cool and dry in the bus stop
I’m here until the bus stops
