There is nothing wrong with posting lyrics and/or soundbites of your music here.

However, if you read the rules for this forum here, http://www.musicbanter.com/song-writ...e-posting.html, you will see that we ask everyone to keep their posts limited to one thread.

I will merge this thread in with your other thread. As long as you keep posting there, we're all good!

Thanks for posting!

I have an on-going project where I plan to record some South African guitar music that I have been playing around with. Sometimes, it's hard to work in isolation so I thought I'd post a few on here just to get some opinions, good or bad.

The actual playing at the moment is taking a back seat whilst I try to figure out the recording side.

Cheers, Gordon.

Gordon,

I loved this stuff! I am a big fan of Africana in general and you sound pretty authentic :D. Keep it up!!

Sorry guys for messing you up. I promise to behave and stick any new stuff in here from now on. It's really hard to resist sometimes, for example, if I'm in the Reggae/Ska section and I've just finished a song that fits into that style it would be great to get a reaction/opinion from the folks who are into that kind of music. It seems more direct that way. I'm sure a lot of folks on here don't even visit the songwriter's section. Just a thought...

What I have here is a direct link to my music page on Soundclick where anyone interested can check out everything I have recorded so far. If this is not allowed please let me know and feel free to remove it. I called it 'Odd-Ball' for a reason and that is, I just play anything when I get the urge and I don't stick to any particular style. Eclectic I suppose is the proper word for it...

Alot of people don't visit the songwriting forum. But we do have our regulars who check it out all the time, and you'll usually get feedback from them.

Three Song Competition Entries. What you think ?

Hi,

I decided to search through my songs and make three entries into a National Song Writing Competition. Never really done this before but an entry form dropped out of a music mag I was reading so I thought I'd give it a go.

The first will be in the Pop/Rock section, the second in the World Music section and the third in the Instrumental section.

I was just hoping to get a little feedback. To be honest, I don't know how these competitions are judged and what they are looking for. No harm trying I guess.

Thanks for any opinions in advance.

Hi there,

A friend on a guitar web site wrote the lyrics for the following song and I supplied the music and recorded it.

Here are the lyrics and the recorded song:

Love Crime, (BANG,BANG).

Your'e on the prowl and your up all night
like a vampire lookin for another bite
you look so good and act so tough
your not gonna stop till you get enough
stay away that's what I'm told
cuz your a cold steel revolver ready to explode

(chorus)
bang bang your love is like a gun
shoot me in the heart then turn around and run
bang bang your reckless with your crime
you're gonna do life .... Without lovin anyone

everywhere you go you leave 'em lying on the floor
you're just out lookin for another score
I wanna run , I wanna get away
and you're just livin for another day
you don't care you're doin it for fun
you're a love serial killer that's on the run

(back to chorus)

someday soon you're gonna seeL

you've been livin in misery
you're livin alone , you're livin a lie
caught red handed without an alibi
there's no where to hide and no where to run
and you're left left standing with a smoking gun

(back to chorus)

Hi there,

Daktari Schofield plays one-man reggae and other stuff. I recently started a Youtube page and so far I have eight videos on there. Nothing spectacular, just me practicing various songs I play.

Not sure if this is permitted but I guess I'll soon find out.

Thanks to anyone who spares the time to have a look and listen.

Cheers, Gordon.
