Thread and external changes won't, I feel, get rid of the fears, only change them...because I think men have a whole bunch of fears, too. Even men can feel vulnerable. I also thought it was interesting that you acknowledge fears in this poem when you seem very strong to me. Part of your strength, I feel, is that you admit what troubles you! You also seem like someone who can protect herself very well...though I know that doesn't change the feelings.
