Chords from another scale
You know how in C scale, we use C Dm Em F G Am Bdim chords, these are for the C scale. Now if I incorporate some of the chords from ANOTHER scale, 1. is it possible ? 2. and how many chords from another scale can I use ?
Thanks for answering :dj: |

E /// | G /// |A /// |C /// | or A /// | C /// |D /// |F /// | or C /// | Eb /// |F /// |Ab /// | etc. How many? It depends, so I'm not going to say throw in as many as you want. It can sound a bit amateurish if you switch between a lot of major/minor chords that don't fit in a scale. But to get around that you can use 5-chords (Root/Fifth/Octave). To add more chords in your song you can use what is called modulation and switch from one scale to another from verse & chorus; or have a scale change for the bridge. You don't have to stick to major scales, you can use/learn exotic scales or make your own scale and figure out the chords within it. The main thing is to have your chord progression that fits within a scale, that's just a rule of thumb, though. |
