Boozins Thread Of Musical Garbage

So ive been messing around with recording stuff a little bit the last few days. Never recorded any of my own stuff but I have written plenty of songs through the years. Thanks to some fellow members who showed me how to use some software now I can start laying down some of my own tracks. For those who dont know ive played guitar since I was a teenager but was happy being only able to form enough chords to get me through the simplistic style of melodies and chord structure I conjurred up. I could always figure something out by ear as far as picking lead but my knowledge of different chords was not very broad. About 6 months ago I learned my first bar chord...yes I know "LAME"...just never wanted to take that step to learn it. Usually if a song required bar chords and I wanted to learn it, I'd just use my capo or simply not play it. A big problem being a Hendrix and Srv fan all these years. Anyway so ive progressed some and expanded my knowledge a lil and been tampering with finally being able to play my favorite artists songs. So ill post some covers from time to time just in case there are any others with a passion for the artists I cover and my own music as well.

Acoustic "Little Wing" Intro by Bloozswagger on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free

Also im touching up a cover of "Little Wing" I did with vocals and and some lead guitar work to. Im still trying to figure out how to combine the tracks without all the buzzing and noise. This is all being done on my ****ty computer mic and my patience gets worn easily so pardon the hiccups in my play and poor sound quality. Also all the playing im doing will be on my acoustic because im poor and cant afford an electric :( ...though I would love to have a strat one day..im taking donations.....
*not really*-just joking...thats not soliciting for money dont get the wrong idea

Bloozcrooz 06-12-2011 05:05 PM

Ok im tired of messing with the audio and im never satisfied with the final take. Ive redone my lead solo countless times and the best sound I could get was only if I muted the track and then attempted to play the lead just keeping time in my head. Which some what worked but I kept either finishing up short or...meh I just didnt like it so I sacraficed a lil on the buzzing to keep the timing right. Again all this is new to me except the playing and singing but as far as the recording and tweeking gadgets im a noobsta. Anyway heres what I ended up with and maybe you can suffer through till the end thanks.

Man, you've got a great voice!
Digging your stuff!!

If you ever need a little help or advice on the recording/mixing side of things, let me know.

Dr_Rez 06-12-2011 05:40 PM

At last! This version is great. I like how on this one you added the echo on the specific parts.

Do you think you could send me a copy with just the backing and vocals so i could try playing my own solo over it?

Sure no problem man, and thanks for the compliment

I have to agree with everyone else, very good! The echoing effect made it seem very surreal. I look forward to any future posts.

richie1 06-14-2011 08:29 PM

Simply beautiful! Treated with the respect the song deserves. Jimi would be proud.

Bloozcrooz 06-16-2011 11:56 PM

Again many thanks to everyone and I appreciate your input. Im thinking of what I want to do next, but cant make up my mind but ill be sure an post if I think its tolerable.

You played very well, and the vocals fit in very well. What kind of guitar was it played on?

Yessir, just for sh*ts and giggles though. I've never attempted to read guitar music, but I can read piano music. I haven't harkened the musician's call just yet.

Piano is something that I wish I could play too but I never took the time to try to learn. I cant read music either dude I usually just try to figure stuff out by ear and just watching others....or youtube. I mean I know the concepts behind music theory and the basics but im by no means a music expert. I just keep fumbling with it making an idiot out of myself till I think its decent enough that folks wont throw rotten vegtebles at me when I play.
If you've got extra time on your hands man you should put in some time and practice. I bet after a month or so you'll be pretty pleased with what you can do, and if you have any questions about guitar I could try an help ya out if I can. Or others on here as well could help ya, RezZ is pretty sharp with what he knows and always willing to help out someone wanting to learn.

I'm the same way about figuring stuff out by ear. I don't really do covers or anything, but in bands and situations where I'm going for a sound, it's all just experimentation and implementation. I really like being like that, though. It's a challenge. And it's fun. :)

Bloozcrooz 06-17-2011 03:33 AM

After what I heard you play in your post FBD ill be asking you questions if I cant figure something out. You should have entered that in the song comp....now that I know your capable of playing too, maybe we could have some kind of monthly themed song comp or something. I mentioned it in another thread but I havent mentioned it to RezZ yet...I was kind of wondering if other members had any ideas as to what it could consist of. Ill post something about it in the song comp thread, I think it'd be something fun to do and maybe get people that were thinking about playing or wanting to get back into playing some incentive to start.

If RezZ doesn't have the time maybe you can head up the monthly comp and be in charge of it.

One day guys ill be able to play like this dude im posting below (and then ill quit playing cause there would be no need to top this kind of performance). Ive showed it several times to various members in different sections of the forum but this guy is the best I've heard since Stevie on a strat. With his tone, style and speed all combined, this guys cover of Kenny Wayne's "While We Cry" imo, is one of the best instumentals I've ever heard next to SRV's "Little WIng" cover.

I just got some new headphones and realized how much sound I was depriving myself of hearing. Almost like listening to it for the first time withy these things on...enjoy

Bloozcrooz 03-01-2012 10:09 PM

Though my fans are few...stay tuned for further material released by yours truly. Im ready to record some more stuff with my 12 string I bought back during the summer. Im probally going to attempt a little Stevie Ray Vaughan. Something along the lines of Pride and Joy. I havent posted much since I originally started this thread but ive had other obligations I had to take care of. Let me know what yall think. All thoughts are appreciated whether their critical or complimentry. Anyways.......till next time!!!!

Bloozcrooz 12-25-2012 07:19 PM

Well its one year later but as promised here's a little cover of Pride and Joy I threw together this Christmas afternoon. There's a couple of hiccups in there as I'm a little rusty, my apologies. Most of you already know my vocals are some what meh imo but none the less hope you enjoy. Let me know what you think, all input positive and negative...be merciless cause thats how you know what to improve on. Again all this done on an acoustic and lap top. I added some effects to my vocals and one part of my lead guitar part. I get bored with just the regular sound of the original recording. I'm going to try an lay some tracks down with my 12 string and see how that sounds if I can make myself find the motivation. Maybe some of you have some ideas of what would be a suitable song for me to try an cover. Maybe you find my music repulsive, either way its all good. Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Again sorry I cant cover up my Texas accent even with echo effect and delay!

Thanks man, I was kind of rushing but it didn't turn out to bad I dont guess. Appreciate your feedback cause even though its a music forum the replys are few. Oh well comes with being the most hated I guess (lol)but doesn't deter me from loving music and attempting to playing it. :pimp:

Bloozcrooz 12-25-2012 10:19 PM

Oh so for all the hatez out there :finger: You know your jeolous!

blastingas10 12-26-2012 07:33 AM

If you don't mind me askin, How old are you? you don't have to answer, I'm just curious because that doesn't really sound like a young mans voice. I'd be very impressed if you were a teen or in your early twenties and had a voice like that.

Plankton 12-26-2012 08:39 AM

Sounded good Blooz. I thought the chorus effect of your vox was a bit much though. I'd like to hear your vocals clean, with maybe a slight bit of reverb. Guitar playing was really good.

For other tunes, I'd suggest some ZZ Top. You have that Billy Gibbons growl.

Well thanks mate! You can be impressed cause I've sang the same way my whole life :) and started at a very young age. I only attempted to learn my scales and try an improvise being a lead guitar player the winter of 2010. Up till then I couldn't even make a bar chord, I was pathetic.

Hey thanks Plank! Appreciate the feedback and will definately look into some ZZ Top and see what I can come up with. As far as my vocals I was going for a sort of spacey, surreal (little wing) type of sound. I myself dont like the way I sound cause I dont have that raspy scratchy kind of voice I'd like to have. So I try an throw some kind of effect in there to give it a different vibe and feel to it. I'm still learning how to use the program that I record it with so I'm sure I'll figure something else out that may sound a lil better eventually. Anyways thanks for the advice and your feedback.
Oh hey for anyone interested I'm hooked on Rumspringa. I'm really impressed with their sound and very unique style. Dudes vocals are wicked cool and I absoloutley adore the sound he gets out of his hollow body. They have a bluesy, almost psychadelic at times feel to their sound. I instantly took a liking to them the first time I heard them. Now its just getting better the more I listen to them. I highly recommend giving them a listen. Refreshing different and a sound all their own.

Rather than billy gibbons, I was thinking his voice kind of reminded me of Jim James.

Yeah, I've only heard one song by them, and it's pretty freakin fabulous.

Heres another little something from me for your listening ears. i'm bored and just laying down tracks and thought this riff was cool. Plus some of you just like the clean acoustic sound so I didn't tweek it at all. I'll see if I can think up some lyrics to go with it and get back with ya. Mean time enjoy Blues Fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bloozcrooz 01-18-2013 04:08 PM

So yeah, I need to lay some more stuff down but just haven't felt like it for one reason or another. I think I just get tired of always playing guitar by myself cause after a while it gets old. I need a new project song that would be challenging to learn or set down and just put some words with some ideas I already have. I'm just like meh, I guess when you play by yourself most the time it gets to be boring. Even when I do play around others its usually the same people who have heard me a million times. I dont know, one week I may be excited about playing and the next not want to bother with it at all.

One thing I've learned is not to force it. Don't ever think you HAVE to play just to satisfy some type of work ethic/practice regime. Well, maybe when first starting out to get your chops up but there comes a time when you have some tools in place, and know how to use them but just aren't motivated by anything because it all seems so stale. Take a step back, maybe just for a few days, maybe for a few weeks. During those times I'll seek out new forms of sound and just absorb, and come back to guitar with a fresh outlook on things.
