Hi all, I've been advised to try starting a different thread from general music in here. I don't know if it will fit this forum but here goes...

I'm making a chart for a small child. It is being made to give him a very simple overview of the music business from a successful US songwriter/artist's point of view. It is a hierarchical tree chart ranking all the major players of the industry by their relationship to the songwriter/artist (not by clout or power.) For example: the lawyer drafts contracts between the songwriter/artist and all the others, the manager oversees and advises the songwriter/artist on all the others, and the business manager tracks the passing of finances between the songwriter/artist and all the others. That's why these 3 are up top, they have the strongest relationship with him. Thanks for your help, please let me know if I've left out any major players...

John, your chart looks excellent, thorough and well organized. I don't think you have left out any major players...but I don't really know, because I've never considered all the traditional steps necessary to become a professional musician!

One songwriter here at MusicBanter who is trying to make it in the world as recording artist doesn't come round much, but he would probably know if you have left out any major players in your chart.

Hopefully someone else here who is knowledgeable on the subject will give you a difinitive answer to your question.

My opinion is that your chart will help the child gain a good understanding of relationships among people in the music industry.

Oh, I like how you have all those cccccooooonnnnnnssssssuuuuummmmmmeeeeeerrrrrrrrsss at the bottom of the chart. It took me a minute to realize what those were! :)

Thanks a lot Veg, I hope you're right...

I updated it, this one is more accurate. I also inverted it like a tree cause that probably represents the industry better.
