Counting on you - Lyrics

Hi all

Here are some lyrics I wrote recently. They are based loosely around a verse in Genesis 22:6 where Abraham is standing poised over his son Isaac with a dagger raised in his hand which he is about to plunge into the boy's heart. I often wonder what thoughts were going through his mind at that moment and that gave the inspiration for the lyrics.

Counting on you

Think of a number
Multiply by two
Got a remainder?
Go back to school
I can't add
But I sure as heck can count
When the chips are down
Be sure I'll be counting on you

Taking a risk
A life is on the line
Do me a favour
Get here on time!
I can wait but
Only if I know that it's true
When it comes to the crunch
I'm assured I can count on you

Walking a tightrope
Keeping an even keel
My faith is tested
Through the deck of cards
That you deal
(No, I don't like the cards
that you deal)
Now the time has come
To try out those nerves of steel

seems real. unlike where you try to rhyme every sentence and make it dull and too obvious.
