Angel

Verse 1
I screwed up so many times
Convinced myself I was a failure
I was not worthy of anything
I could not even look at myself in the mirror
If I did, I wouldn't recognize my own self
I was drenched with embarrassment
I was consumed with guilt
I felt there was only one way out
Of my problems and my deep pain
I got down on my knees and prayed

Verse 2
Some saw me as easy prey
I was robbed and taken advantage of
I was fed up with being betrayed
And being lied to
Couldn't rely on my intuition
I could not trust my judgement
It was severely impaired
I felt there was only one way out
Of my problems and my deep pain
I got down on my knees and prayed

Chorus 1
My angel has arrived
Sent from God to me
My prayers have been answered
Now I can begin to heal
I have sought out guidance
I have longed for comfort
I have just received what I have always needed

Chorus 2
My angel had arrived
Sent from God to me
My prayers have been answered

Take Me As I Am

Verse 1
I am good but I misbehave
I am sane but act a little crazy
I am friendly but come across as tough
I am well off but owe a lot of money

Verse 2
I am quiet but can't stay still
I respond well to change
But like the same things

Verse 3
I am strong but I'm not Superman
I care about what others think of me
But shrug it off
I like to read but love watching television
Cooking is not my speciality
Eating is much easier

Chorus
Take me as I am
I am real and genuine
What you see is what you get
Take me as I am

In Deep

Verse 1
The donkeys are running around
Searching for much needed water
The air is dry
They are getting weaker
At times, some fall to their death
But the others keep running along
If they don't, they will meet the same fate
So they head on down to the south
That is where all the clean water is
The ones with the most strength get there sooner
They get the best of the best
Then they start to spread out across the country
Growing further apart from their base
The donkey system is collapsing
It is being rules by race
The eagles are in deep

Verse 2
The elephants are walking around
Searching for much needed water
The air is dry
They are getting weaker
At times, some fall to their death
But the others keep walking along
If they don't, they will meet the same fate
So they head to the midwest
That is where all the clean water is
The strong ones get there sooner
They get the best of the best
Then they start to spread out across the country
Bringing together their base
The elephant system is rising
It is being ruled by race
The eagles are in deep

Bridge
Liberalism is not treasonous
Conservatism is not close-minded
The extremes on both ends are unbalanced
They're holding us as hostages
The donkey system is collapsing
It is being ruled by race
The eagles are in deep
The elephant system is rising
It is being ruled by race
The eagles are in deep
Where have the independents gone?
We need them now more than ever

Chorus
We are more polarized than ever before
We are more divided than ever before
We are all in deep

Time Marches On

Verse 1
Time marches on
So must we
We can look behind
But not live in the past
Time marches on
So must I
Painful memories only existed yesterday

Verse 2
Time marches on
So must you
Your daddy left a long time ago
He's not coming back any time soon

Verse 3
Time marches on
So must I
I can't change my past
If I could, I would try
Time marches on
So must you
If you ever stumble
I'll be there to pick you up

Chorus 1
Time marches on, time marches on
Come along and march with me

Chorus 2
Time marches on
So must we
We should learn from the past
And live better futures

American Skin

Verse 1
I'm in a department store
Looking for things to buy
With my hard earned money
After a while, I know someone's following me
I see them from the corner of my eye
I pay for the items I have chosen
Then walk towards the exit door
A security guard stops me
And says 'Mister, you better come with me'

Verse 2
i am proud of my ethnicity
My family and I celebrate our heritage
I wear what's called a hijab
So do many other Muslim females
I'll be walking down the streets
Then some people will start to shout at me
Saying I'm a traitor and a terrorist

Bridge
I'm a law-abiding person
I've grown up wanting to live the American Dream
Why do they care about what I do in my bedroom
I assumed I had the right to privacy
We have the same job description
But I earn less money than you

Chorus 1
I am an American
I am a true patriot
I am a taxpayer
I'm also a second-class citizen

Chorus 2
I am an American
To you, my race is more important
I have the right to vote
I'm also a second-class citizen

Stop Staring At Me

Verse 1
Stop staring at me
Come and roll with me
Time is ticking away
So make your move today
I'm crazy for you
And you're crazy for me
We may be perfect strangers
But it feels like I've known you forever

Verse 2
You are mysterious
I want to know who you are
There's no need to be shy
I'm approachable guy
If you've ever thought about getting high
I will make you touch the sky
You will feel like you can fly

Bridge
I can smell the attraction
It is everywhere
Leaving right now is something I wouldn't dare
All I want is to feel a rush come over me
Even if it only happens once

Chorus
Stop staring at me
If you have something to prove
Make your move
Stop staring at me
It does not do much for you or I

Never A Dull Moment

Verse 1
Two men who ran for mayor
Received the same number of votes
So they rolled a dice
A 100 year old lady ran for governor
In California, anything's possible
Sometimes it snows in April
Too bad nothing can be done about it

Verse 2
Scientist grew an ear on a mouse
A woman came back to life after her body had froze
Identical twin sisters were reunited after 20 years apart
A man was married to nine women at the same time
The finale of Survivor drew almost 52 million viewers

Verse 3
A sprinter breaks a world record
A team wins its fourth championship in a row
A lost dog is found after two years
A country artist sells 34 million records
A man tries to set off a bomb planted in his shoes
Then he's arrested

Bridge 1
The longer you live
You see things you thought you would never see
You hear bizarre and terrifying sounds
Life will throw lemons at you
You can turn them into lemonade
You don't have to be a magician to do so

Bridge 2
There is never a dull moment
If you look hard enough
You will be surprised and amazed

Chorus
There is never a dull moment
If you look hard enough
You will find the beauty of life
Some things are rarely what they seem
You will be surprised and amazed

Are You Somebody?

Verse 1
Are you a student or a teacher?
Are you a doctor or a nurse?
Are you a journalist or a television producer?
Are you an activist or a consultant?
What kind of person are you?

Verse 2
Are you a lover or a fighter?
Are you a dreamer or a realist?
Are you always in a hurry
Or do you take your time?
Are you grounded
Or are you high so up in the sky?

Bridge 1
Are you somebody who is fearless?
Are you thoughtful?
Are you able to show your emotions?
Are you selfless?

Bridge 2
I want to know who you are
Before I get involved with you
Lay everything on the line
And let me judge for myself if it matters

Chorus 1
Are you somebody who can laugh and love?
Are you kind and generous?
Are you respectful?
Are you somebody with a good personality?
Are you somebody with dignity?

Chorus 2
Are you somebody who can have fun?
Are you able to be serious?
Are you somebody who is trustworthy?
Are you able to be a good friend?

Where Is My Mind?

Verse 1
My bedroom lights are on
The door is unlocked
The fridge is empty
I haven't watered the plants in a long time
The garbage can hasn't been cleaned

Verse 2
I've got loads of laundry in the hamper
Yesterday's mail is still in the mailbox
There are ten messages on my answering machine
That I haven't responded to
I had no time to eat breakfast
I'll be arriving late to work
So many things are out of order
So many things are out of control

Verse 3
I'm drinking coffee knowing that it's bad for me
I cannot get access to my email
Because I forgot my password
How dumb is that?
So many things are out of order
So many things are out of control

Verse 4
I left work at six instead of five o'clock
I was stuck in a traffic jam
For a whole hour
I don't know what I'm going to eat for dinner
When I get home, I will be too tired to do anything
I will just go to sleep

Chorus
Where is my mind?
Where has it gone to?
What happened to my common sense?
Where is my good judgement?

Close My Eyes

Verse 1
When I close my eyes
I think about the hurt that I've felt
I think about the lies I've heard
There is nothing but darkness
All this sadness sucks the life out of me

Verse 2
When I close my eyes
I think about the hate
That has seeped into my heart
It has turned it into stone
All the blood that is pumped out
Weakens me with every beat
Slowly I am dying
But I have stopped crying
I'm still fighting for a chance
To be free from you

Bridge
When I close my eyes
I think about what I have lost
I am not going to let what is mine
To slip away from me again

Chorus 1
When I close my eyes
I envision you holding a gun to my head
I try to escape from you
But you're always a step ahead

Chorus 2
When I close my eyes
I think about what I've become
If only I could turn back time
I would have looked out for myself
You are holding a knife to my neck
I try to grab it from you
But you cut me
Then you pin me to the ground
