MusicBanter track Collab

Anyone down to make a collaboration? I was thinking we could layer some tracks together and make a song. We could post each layer thru a shared soundcloud account and then the next person adds a layer and we keep posting each result on here so people can see how things progress. PM me if you're interested or just post on here. I'm not sure if something like this already exists on here, but it should.

Future Funk hopefully

This was attempted a while back, and iirc it failed miserably. I've been collaborating with people on-line for years, so if you really are serious, and this isn't just a 'thought of the day' that will eventually fade into the briny deep, I could help this along.

Some quick guidelines:
  • One person that knows how to mix should be the go-to person for all files.
  • Each collaborator should only submit dry tracks, no effects. Desired effects can be added later. This is mostly for vocals, and there are some exceptions.
  • Each collaborator should provide their work already timed in the mix, so it can be dropped in place with no trimming/extending needed.
  • The piece of music should be divided into sections and those respective parts should be assigned to each collaborator before anything is submitted. This helps to prevent people from stepping on each other's parts.
  • Drums/rhythm first. Always.

Hope that helps.

I was thinking of maybe making it a bit more lax. I'm not looking to make something very high quality just mess around a bit see what kind of ideas you guys have. If anyone wants to add anything to this let me know. It's a guitar track I just made you can DL the track off soundcloud email me if you want the password to the account so you can upload too.

I'de like to try without really any rules at first. If you want to clap your hands or hit a pot to the track that's cool anything. I personally like to make songs rough and dirty.

Also to answer your question Yorke Daddy really anything is fine. My forte is in indie and punk kind of stuff and twee pop too but I'm down for anything.

I'm hearing At-the Drive In style vocals but some octaves lower, and more tranquil. Fast and vicious drums, some cool bass not simple, and a trumpet.

If I find time I could record some Tony Hajjar esque drumming if you need it.

That would be cool Tristan thanks

I've seen quite a few collabs deteriorate from lack of structure, hence my initial comment. Just thought I'd try to inject a little knowledge from experience. Looking forward to hearing the output on this though.

I think providing all the separate instrument tracks to the next musician might be the better way. Just playing on top of everything will be messy and more difficult.
