Is good singing voice something people born with?
Is good singing voice something people born with? or is it something you can develop by exercising and some techniques? I don't believe that every singer was born with good voice, nor that they had taken exercises from a vocal teacher.
I'm not talking about having beautiful heavenly voice, I just want it to be okay when singing and without dissonance |
Yes, you are born with a specific set of vocal chords that are uniquely yours. This makes it easier for some people to sing well than others. However, I'm of the opinion that everyone, except for maybe a select few, can learn the techniques and ins and outs of their voice to become a great singer.
So it's kind of a yes and no situation. |

It's something you are born with, but you can loose with age. Also you can train it, and you can write songs that accommodate your vocal range- don't try to sing cyndy lauper etc (but what you should ask yourself is... why would you?)

robert smith is a fantastic singer |
I really believe it's born. You can train a "C level" voice to a "B level" voice, buy A's are born. With training an A can become an A+. Then you have something.

Depends upon approach
Some have something early, usually due to a singing household. Some never have it. Some have it later, developed, they work at it. Some are not good on their own, but when they are teamed up with someone else, magic happens. ABBA!

Unless you're completely tone deaf, you can always improve your singing voice with practice.
Hell, you could massively expand your vocal range with enough practice. It's hard, but you can do it. Vocal chords are like any other muscle, the more you train them, the more they develop. |
