Monstrosity - Chaos

It was 2002 and the band Zoetrope had been disbanded for about a decade. The ex-singer and long time friend came to me with a few lyrics and ideas for songs that he wanted to flush out. Being that I had already had a few home made tunes recorded meant that I would be the one in charge of taking these ideas and making them a reality. I had a lot to learn about recording techniques back then, but what little knowledge I had about the subject combined with being a computer nerd and a guitar player made for an interesting mix. It also helped that I had been recently laid off of work, so I had nothing but time to kill. My other good friend had gone off to Jamaica and let me use his '74 Gibson LP Gold Top so it was only fitting that I made good use of it while he was away. The planets had lined up perfectly, and the conditions were ripe for what would become the one and only collaboration between Pete and myself. He'd sound out a progression and I'd run with it and have a full song ready for him to lay down vocals over. We did this every day for about a month, combining the XBox snowboarding game "Amped" and a few holes of disc golf in the mix to reset the creative machine back to datum once in a while. Using only a Win98 PC, a condenser mic that came with it, a Zoom expression pedal with pre-programmed drums, a guitar and some effects, we set out to create an album. The result is a concoction of melodically undertoned garage metal tunes that sound like they were recorded in someone's living room. Which they were.

So, without further ado... I present to you:
