George Clinton and Parliament- What A Night!

I went to see Parliament years ago. Bootsy Collins, Quasar, Brides of Funkenstein- there were so many of them I can't remember them all but the gig went on for about 4 hours! They had The Mothership suspended from the ceiling-The noise! It was packed. I walked around for days after going "Yeh,Yeh!" They nearly blew my socks off! I've been addicted ever since!

George Clinton is the king of monster funk. It seemed that the entire subgenre of monster funk was run by Clinton himself, or at least spawned entirely due to him. Clinton headed up Parliament and Funkadelic, both of which were almost the same. I'm fairly certain Clinton was a heavy influence and help with Bootsy Collins' Bootsy's Rubber Band.

Parliament had the whole "epic superhero story behind the band" before Kiss started with theirs. I have a few of the Parliament LP's that include the associated comics. No doubt they shaped what music is today.

Don't know if anyone has seen the "old greg" skit which made the rounds on the net a few years ago, but Parliament and more specifically Bootsy where referenced in it. Look it up on youtube, its out there.

I love george clinton the man is amazing. Solid gold

While I love early '70s Funkadelic, I must say that I've been woefully uninspired by George Clinton in general. Parliament never really impressed me and it was Eddie Hazel (not George Clinton) that held the funk together in the early years.

Sly Stone > George Clinton

Does anyone know if george and company ever performed "double oh-oh" live in concert on video and/or audio?

JC8907 03-08-2018 03:31 AM

Does George Clinton consider as the first pioneer who did pfunk? Or are there anyone before him?
Because I saw a video about funk music which I think after the Sly and the Family Stone and James Brown brought up the funk music, then came pfunk.
Correct me if I am wrong.
