comment on some of your fav.artist. / Otis Redding- is one of my favorite artist. I noticed that he used very little backup vocals, on most of his recordings. 'I Love You More Than Words Can Say'..is my favorite by Redding.

The Best Of, Marvin ***e. Volume 2 The 70s.The Millennium Collection, 20th Century(masters). My two favorite classics are...Trouble Man,& Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler). And... Got To Give It Up, Part 1., Mercy Mercy Me(The Ecology), Distant Lover(Live), I Want You, My Last Chance, And...last, but not least...Whats Going On & Lets Get It On.

Classic soul album Two Steps From The Blues (1962) by Bobby 'Blue' Bland deserves a mention in this thread.
If there was ever an album that marks the change from R&B to soul...this is it!
Forget Ray Charles, this album is a defining moment.
It's all in the title along with awesome horns, gospel and pop phrasing, lifting it a few notches up from trad. Delta Blues.
Give it a listen.

the three b's blues/soul man, one of the best voices, should've had more recognition, pity the fool, one my favourites...

That's a great choice.
Got to say my favourite is probably 'Little Boy Blue'. Not just because it's such a great track, but because it defines the moment with a mix of blues and gospel that made soul music inevitable.
A piece of music history packed into two and a half minutes.
