Default Allen Stone

Tried searching for a thread regarding this guy but haven't found one yet. When I first heard him, I didn't really think twice about him - knew he was good but I didn't lose composure haha. I decided to buy his self-titled and his sound grew on me the more I listened. Simple songs with good groove and his voice is smooth.

Saw him and his band live here in Melbourne on the weekend and i left speechless. Amazing performance and the calibre of the musicians particularly Steve Watkins on the keyboards and Jason Holt on the drums. So good, if you get the chance check them out and go see them live. Soul music at its finest in today's world.

He's an absolute gem. Totally deserves more credit than he gets. Here's a sample for the uninitiated:

Love this guy. Great voice! But sometimes I feel his songs are a little bit generic..
Unaware though blowes me away every single time.

I definitely understand that. His songs aren't revolutionary but there is this feel behind them that I love.

He needs grittier production, all the studio stuff is too polished but if you see anything live he kills it.

This is spectacular. So smooth and those high notes are perfect. It's obvious that he'd be a great live act to go see. I've been on a soul kick lately (well actually fluctuating between soul and stoner rock...I don't get it either), so this is pretty perfect. Can anyone recommend something else like this...something like deep R&B and/or more traditional soul, not so heavy on the pop?
