Oldies records

I'm new here and was looking for a place to discuss oldies with fellow music lovers. I love motown, nothern soul and soul in general. Also love other genres like classic rock, blues and jazz. Also have started collecting vinyl and just wanted to share my collection so far and also share the records I wish I could get my hands on. Also would love to hear about others collections and what's on their wish list!

If you have an-Oldies Store in your area, make use of it and don't be afraid to test their knowledge, because some of those guys don't know too much.

Dude111 07-12-2019 01:05 PM

I found a first release of an album ON CASSETTE (Ampex - 1970) and they didnt know it was the first!! (They had it marked at 3.00)

So any album, if it's the first album, on a near dead medium such as cassette, has to be worth more than $3? That actually sounds like they priced it too high. 98% of cassettes are worth a dollar or less.

Also, it could be clearance. I out out records for less than $5 that are worth more than $10 because they've sat around forever.

Dude111 07-14-2019 11:00 PM

Ya ya could be right buddy (About clearence) -- This was at a reg record store.......

Clefsong51 07-16-2019 06:46 PM

I said-SOME don't know much,I've been to a few that didn't know as much as they should've.

Dude111 07-18-2019 07:46 PM

I hear ya..All I know is its beautiful to get a goregous piece of analogue media for so cheap!!!!!!! (I feel guilty taking it so cheap to be frank about it)

I am a dire analogue lover :)

Clefsong51 07-20-2019 04:45 PM

Don't feel bad bro,get em while you can..I'm always on the lookout for a bargain.

So do you walk in an Oldies Store and immediately give them the first degree, perhaps waterboard him to see how much he knows, or do you make conversation and try to get to know the shopkeeper first?
