I'd say it all depends on whether you want the classic bog-standard Four Tops sound, or something a little different.

The album "Still Waters", which I have heard but don't have, falls into the latter category. It has sometimes been compared with the Marvin Gaye album "What's Going On". By that I mean that it's still very recognisably the Four Tops, but the style is a little different from classic Motown - more atmospheric, some of the tracks are almost ambient.

A non-Motown album worth to listen to : Keeper Of The Castle (1972).

Nah, Temptations are better.

But the Four Tops have their moments such as Reach Out.
