Sorry, No idea which song is it. That twenty seconds of it sounded pretty good. Too bad I couldn't find Lyrical Prophets from spotify.

Have you found the track yet, Spanksen?
Sounds like something Larry Graham and Graham Central Station could have done, or perhaps Stevie Wonder but probably you already eliminated those.
Hope you're getting close!

Could definitely be something Larry Graham / Graham Central Station has done.. or the Bar Kays....it sounds like a Bar Kays song to me.....(not Holy Ghost though)

This is a mid to late 70's track I think, so we can eliminate anything early 80's.

Holy Ghost by the Bar Kays is close but I don't think that's the one.
Some lesser known gritty Blaxploitation movie may have used it on the B side. (Not to knock the B side, I usually prefer B side tracks, but the track in question is probably less well known than A side).
You could always try asking Jamiroquai's Matt Johnson perhaps.

@Saulaac @gandhara Thank you so much for your response. I checked all the Records from Bar Kays and Graham Central Station on Spotify but could not find it, so i guess it must be another group

Hallo, still searching! Have a nice 2024

Spanksen 04-06-2024 03:49 AM

After seven years of searching, I've achieved a partial success. By chance, while watching a German TV series called "Disko 76", I recognized the melody and was able to identify the group and the song name using Shazam. The song is "7-6-5-4-3-2-1 Blow your Whistle" by Gary Toms Empire. However, upon closer listening, the song I'm looking for seems to be a cover version of the original, as there is more Clavinet and Wah Wah present when you listen closely. I've also found several cover versions, including ones by The Rimshots and James Last, but none of them are the version I'm searching for. So, I'm almost there with my goal. If anyone has any further ideas, I would be very grateful.

Best regards

Original

The Rimshots Version

James Last Version

The Version i am seachring for (Probably a bit slowed down.)

That's impressive

The search has come to an end after 7 years. After I told you in my previous post that I was able to identify the song from a TV series, my search for the cover version began. Through the platform Discogs, an online database for discographies, I managed to find a band called "Funky Connection" that covered the song in 1975.

However, there is no audio sample of this version on the internet, not even on YouTube, so this seems to be really rare. So, I took a chance and ordered the single for €1, and it arrived this morning. And what can I say - IT´S THE SONG!!!!. After seven years, the search is over, and I'm over the moon. Thank you for accompanying me on this journey. I've just uploaded the song to YouTube so you can also experience this amazing Disco Funk Monster.
