Default Moses Sumney

Didn't see a thread on the guy. Seems like a mashup of Macey Gray and Prince so I'm throwing him in the Soul section. I'm currently working through Græ and it's pretty great. The back half of the album brings in a lot more spoken-word and better yet, brass.

Anyone else have opinions on this guy? Enjoying the album because it's not the same derivative crap you find all over the New Release section of Spotify. Current favorite track: virile

I've been a pretty big fan since Aromanticism. græ improved on that album's occasionally aimless songwriting and made it more lush. I really dig his dreamy approach. Fiona Apple's new album is getting a lot of buzz (rightfully so), but I think that this is the real art pop winner of 2020 to date.

It'll most likely change upon further relistens but Gagarin is my favourite from the new album

I did get Prince vibes from Grae. Pretty good record.

So I've been listening to both Aromanticism and Grae for a few days now and while I in principle think it's interesting, it hasn't really gripped me (aside from maybe Virile).

Plus, while I think his voice is an amazing instrument the fact that it's pretty much constantly in the falsetto range for some reason gets a bit grating after a while.

Yes, Moses has been one of this year's best discoveries for me. Grae is a wonderful album.
