In my opinion of course

"Stand" is a great album, I just wouldn't put it that far ahead of either "There's A Riot Goin' On" or "Fresh", and I might even put "There's A Riot.." ahead of it personally. I think that whole run from 1969-1973 is perfect basically.

I really shouldn't be weighing in considering how little I know about the genres this thread is devoted to but... I have to say that in my personal opinion Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu are indeed not up to much compared to Sly Stone in his heyday.

For rhythm and blues, I'll go with the 1950's to mid 60's. For soul, I'll go with the mid 1960's to mid 1970's.
