For the collectors of this music what are some of the most obscure records you own from groups or artists that not many would know?
I have three albums from a Funk (or Funk and R&B) group called Ivy from like the mid 80's, they sound pretty good but I doubt anyone else have heard of them. I have all the albums from RJ's Latest Arrival too, they made music from late 70's through late 80's. One of my favorite Funk, Dance, R&B style groups but they do feel pretty obscure compared to several others of the era. The 12" of "Heaven In Your Arms" might be my favorite slow jam of all time, it's up there anyway!

Good post, two in my collection that come to mind are...I'm Still Waiting[Patti LaBelle An The Bluebelles] an absolute gem written by Curtis Mayfield that didn't do much when released in [1966]... also the cool little jam [ Mamas Little Baby-1972] Brothers Love.

Lee Moses - If Loving You Is A Crime (I'll Always Be Guilty)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_zMZvfQGAQ I first heard this record on a 45 I still have somewhere. I was watching a parade at a festival in a small town in Southern Ohio. IRRC, I wasn't even 10 years old at the time. One of the local radio stations had a float in the parade. The people on the float were tossing 45s into the crowd and I caught this one (pre-internet, computerized programming and even CDs, kids). It's great that the song is available online all these years later. |
