So I've basically just been going through this thread an downloading all the comps and I gotta say this is probably now my favorite thread.

I'm not all the way through yet but so far I've really enjoyed Why?, Jonathan Coulton, the Mike Patton comp, the Indie Hip-Hop comp, and R. Stevie Moore. Especially Why? and Jonathan Coulton. All the others I've listened to have been great as well, there were really only two bands I didn't like so much and those were Thrice and Coheed & Cambria. No fault of the people who put them together, just not really my thing. Anyways nice job everybody, especially Loathsome Pete all your comps were great.

Thank you!

Jonathan Coulton is like the alpha geek that every geek aspires to be. He's funny, got a quirky charm to him, intelligent, and handsome. He's also real into free downloads, in fact he was one of the first artists to use the "choose your own price" method of distribution far earlier than Radiohead. He also encourages people to use his songs for music videos with game engines like World of Warcraft. He likes to keep up with his fans and is just overall an awesome guy who I'd love to see live day.

I can see what you mean about the alpha geek part. His music is also very catchy and the lyrics are very clever. His cover of Baby Got Back was genius:bowdown:

As much as I like that song, I feel that The Smith's less instrumentally upbeat songs are a lot harder to get into in general.

That's actually very curious, because I thought the opposite. It took me much longer to warm up to upbeat tunes that I know love like Cemetery Gates and William, It Was Really Nothing than it did to their ballads. I do love that Johnny Marr guitar though!

Same with Tom Waits.

One of the handful of FLAWLESS artists to make it into my hall of heroes along with Robeson, Plath, Hicks etc. Man has covered just about every style over the years.
For fans of: Daniel Johnston, the Beatles, Guided By Voices, post-punk, pop, blah blah blah
edit: he's good in the lonely night-timez

It looks a bit long but a couple aren't proper songs, enjoy kiddies!

1. Why Should I Love You
2. Theme From A.G.
3. You And Me
4. New Girl
5. Reefer
6. Traded My Heart For Your Parts
7. Adult Tree
8. Puttin' Up The Groceries
9. Cool Daddio
10. Records
11. Jessica Sandwich
12. I Wish I Could Sing
13. Delicate Tension
14. Schoolgirl

Downloaded this yesterday, and listened to it a fair amount of times. I Loved every track of the compilation, so any ideas on which album to begin with?

Good qotsa mix. Covers a lot of the hits which is good for a beginners list. I would have picked something other than I'm Designer for another Era Vulgaris song but that's just me.
