So I was finally able to download this one today. It's a great comp, some very unusual stuff guys.

The two tracks that I submitted were

The Shaggs - My Pal Foot Foot

When I heard we were doing weird and bizarre tracks, I immediately thought of Harry Partch, John Zorn, and The Shaggs. I eliminated Partch from the options because his works in general are more thinking oriented, based on long compositions and pieces that require an intellectual mind to dissect and examine. I needed someone who did songs, one-off 4 minute pieces of music that you could enjoy with or without the album. It needed to be strange, disconcerting and... huh? Bingo. The Shaggs.

This track is arguably their most "famous". These outsider musicians grew a bit of a cult following who enjoyed the band's sincerity despite their perceived lack-of-talent. But it may not be as simple as a lack of talent.... there are rumours that whilst recording their album Philosophy of the World, the girls would stop playing mid-song and say that one of them messed up and needed to restart. This left recording engineers scratching their heads.

Unpleasant or not, this band is a part of music history and culture and it's something I think all music-heads should experience at least once.

John Zorn - Fils Des Etoiles

A few of you may be wondering why this made the cut. Sure it's a bit different, strange even, but it's not necessarily bizarre or puzzling. Long story short, I put this on here because it's the lead track to one of John Zorn's best, and strangest, albums... Music for Children.

John Zorn, as many of you know, is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, improviser, musician who's primarily active in an experimental jazz genre called Avant-Garde Jazz. Some of his stuff is very, very out-there. He has entire albums of duck-calls for goodness sake.

Music for Children blends and bends lullaby-esc melodies and bells with operatic singing (which you heard on Fils Des Etoiles), Zorn's signature sax, blazing hardcore tempos, and a lot of dissonance. This isn't music for children ;)

Hopefully the lead track and my little description wet your stomach just enough to want to hear more. I'd be happy to upload the album for anybody who wants it.
