Interesting pickup. Doesn't seem like his style translates so easily to the NFL, but that remains to be seen. I would think Kaepernick would be a better fit in his system if he can find his way back. Frisco needs some pieces on offense, should be an interesting draft this year.

I'm indifferent. On one hand I'm really happy we finally have an offensive coach to get this team out of the sh*tter for the last 10 years offensively. On the other hand, Chip Kelly has a knack for getting too smart for his own good and f*cking sh*t up.

Either way, we have like 50 million bucks in cap space so this team is going to look REALLY different next year. I'm eager to see who he brings in as OC and DC.

As much of a 49er fan as you are I have a hard time seeing of you as indifferent, at the risk of putting words in your mouth I'd probably think of you as ambivalent. Forgive me if I'm off-base here...

I would agree that ambivalent would be a better word usage.

re: Chip Kelly

I'm amazed that any NFL owner could look at Kelly, and what he did in Philly and then think he was a viable candidate for another head coaching position. Kelly dismantled a Philly team that wasn't that bad, IMO, and tried to build Oregon in Pennsylvania. Just looking at the talent he threw away trying to build a college offense in the NFL should scare the crap out of every GM and Owner. He cannot possibly have the same free reign over personnel decisions in SF that he had in Philly.

These are all valid points (bearing in mind that I'm a Ducks fan). I have grave doubts that the Kelly/Helfrich hurry-up system can work in the NFL, although it may be possible that some modified hybrid version might. I think Kelly is a smart coach and I reserve judgment as to whether or not he can adjust. Being a Seahawks fan I can't really wish him too much luck.

Yes, I'm a little conflicted.

Green Bay ties in the last seconds, but Cards beat the Parkers in overtime.
