That guy is unbelievable, I just saw that on the news, its almost inhuman how fast he is, the most impresive race though I thought was him in the 200m.......WOW!!

dollarsandcents 08-17-2009 03:52 AM

I think he'll got sub 9.5 within the next few years, he seems to have a bit more in him. It's amazing how fast he is compared to everyone else, not just in the field, but everyone who has ever lived. I don't think there's ever been a bigger gulf in which records are still being broken.

Bulldog 08-17-2009 08:02 AM

Absolutely incredible stuff. I was watching last night hoping some miracle would see Dwain Chambers getting gold. Apparently the Bolt there's got his eyes on 9.4 now. Funnily enough, I can see him getting it.

He can get it. If you watch closely on that video of this record, he biffed the whole shot a little bit and just made it up in stride and still broke the record. I think with a good clean start and a smooth finish, this guy can put up some ridiculous times.

Schredds 08-18-2009 07:29 PM

Quite a fitting surname as well I might add.

Freebase Dali 08-18-2009 07:48 PM

He looks taller than the rest.
I dunno if that makes a difference or not in the world of sprinters................

I does, longer legs, bigger strides. Thats not to say a shorter individual couldnt beat a taller one but the taller individual automatically has an edge.

He's my height, 6'5", and it makes a difference.

For sure, damn thats tall, Im 6'3, I used to run alot back in middle and high school and the height helped for sure. There's always the exception though, I mean, a short guy could be gifted from birth and outrun all sorts of tall guys, but then you get a guy like Bolt and its chaos, he's got the height and the genetics.

Most definitely. I've been smoked by some short people in soccer, where fast twitch muscles in an understatement. I want to watch him get a clean start and hit 9.4 someday. Let's just hope he's clean... unlike some of his Jamaican brethren recently.

Haha, ya no doubt, I would say he is, he doesnt look like he's dabblin' in the sauce. Mind you, there are so many new steroid being created, sometimes you cant tell just by looking. The Olympic comittee has extremely strick steroid testing, including tests for blocking agents and the like, so I would say hes clean. If hes smart he'd stay clean because no one gets away with it forever.

Because what's better than breaking your own record?

FETCHER. 08-22-2009 10:38 AM

i seen it on tv, it was amence! i dunno about the tall giving you an edge thing, im 5'11 & wee people can run rings round me, i suppose if i was a runner though id be rapid :)

adidasss 08-22-2009 12:48 PM

He still isn't quite the finished article which makes it even more astonishing. I'm sure he could whittle his time down over the next few years. A few have mentioned his height as an advantage which over the last 70m is a definite plus but his start would be hindered a little more compared to a more explosive lower center of gravity shorter athlete but his power from 50m is almost impossible to stay with.

i dont see him losing for the next 5 years in the 100/200. and i agree hes gonna go faster.

FETCHER. 08-22-2009 07:48 PM

yeah i agree, he could easily get 9.4 if he trained at it enough

gotjuice 08-22-2009 08:50 PM

His times are truly incredible, but it was incredible when Mark Mcguire hit 70 home runs too. I know people are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, but an athlete that dominant, who not only breaks but shatters records previously thought untouchable, is just naturally going to raise suspicions in today's world. And it doesn't help that track and field has one of the worst reputations in terms of doping. I'm not sure. I hope he's clean because he is an incredible sprinter, but a part of me really says that his records will probably come down in a few years.

debaserr 08-22-2009 09:00 PM

the track and field testing regulations are really strict i hear. i bet hes clean.
