Do You Know Kung-Fu?

Do any of you music addicts have any martial arts training? It doesn't have to be traditional like karate... I consider styles like western boxing and freestyle wrestling to be martial arts.

I decided to get into martial arts after seeing Royce Gracie tap out everyone in early UFC's. When I was 16 I moved to Texas, where they have wrestling in high school. I did that for two years, and then found a jiu jitsu school ran by a guy named Travis Lutter. I learned BJJ and Muay Thai at his school for a few years and since then have been pretty flakey in my training. Last week, I started training local MMA fighters at a gym in town. I'm in bad shape but hopefully will be able to get into a ring sometime this year.

Any of you guys know any Krav Maga, Sambo, Judo, etc?

I've never tried it myself.
But I made the mistake of telling my (then) 10 year old Judo learning brother to TRY flipping his 12 year old sister. I was on the floor in a second.

Never again.

hahh...seriously though, it's not a good idea to mimic throws and especially joint locks you see on tv... taking a fall is pretty much an art unto itself, and if done incorrectly, serious injury can occur.. and never put any of your sibilngs into any joint locks or chokes.. it's easier than you think to cause dislocations and fractures... of course you said "never again" but it's important that people without training not perform these techniques, and with the growing popularity of MMA, I fear we may see a lot of media blasting the sport in the future when some kids get hurt trying to "Play UFC"

I don't really think of it as a martial art, but I use to bare-knuckle box for fun. It was mostly between friends and we had some strict rules about it... I still came out of it with a blue bruise to the face or two.

Haven't done it since I was like 15 though.

haha.. yeah we used get in the backyard and throw on the gloves and wing punches till someone got knocked down or (usually) got tired.. Ive always enjoyed the competitive nature of unarmed combat but I've never been the violent type to go out, get drunk, and start a brawl..
