Well hello spain. What a thrashing in that last match. I really thought Italy could play with Spain but they were dissected like a frog.

Let's not forget Italy only had a 2 day turn around from defeating the Germs! Ithink that's just shocking. They should have planned the tournament so the final was played at least 5 days after the semi.

Spain was a better team and from what i see only Brazil in 2014 can knock them out from the football throne. Just hope Neymar,Ganso and Damiao will transfer in europe ASAP for a better experience.

Spain are the best National team ever. Can't see them losing at the World Cup.

Brazil 1994-2002

1994 - World cup winners
1995 - Copa America finalists
1997 - Copa America winners
1998 - World cup finalists
1999 - Copa America winners
2002 - World cup winners

And they were an attractive team to watch too.
Credit to Spain for being the first ever team to retain the trophy but if they're going to have to retain the world cup if you want to start including them on a best national team ever list, because they're not going to win any awards for attractiveness.

Depends who the viewer is. I find their style of play absolutely attractive. Also, Spain have won those three tournaments in a four-year span, not eight. Crazy to lump the 1994 team in with the 2002 team, because I doubt more than two players were in both squads.

You're missing the point.

A great team in the terms you're talking about should dominate for at least a decade, the fact that a Brazilian team could go into the world cup in 1994 with an average age of over 28 (the oldest of any Brazilian team) and go on to win that many trophies over the next 8 years says something about their quality, that they could win that many trophies with a team in transition.

Not taking away what the Spanish team have done but lets see if they can sustain it further down the line when they players get older, lose the hunger, retire and so on and see what their replacements in that team do.

The only guy who may not play is Xavi, everyone else is young enough to play in two years. If they don't win it, fair enough. Still the best National team ever in my opinion.

Everything's relative. "Best team ever", in what sense? As a National team throughout football history or as a certain generation of players?

Regarding the latter, we must remember, for instance, Brazil in the 60's ( Pelé, Garrincha, Didi, Tostão...) or the Netherlands in the 70's (the Clockwork Orange). But there is an obvious problem: we haven't seen many of those distant matches (and there are not enough recordings ), so we can't judge for ourselves.

Anyway, I will tell my grandsons about "those days of glory". BTW, this is my little recording:

That's a bit daft really. Portugal nearly knocked them out of Euro 2012. Admitedly they played out of this world in the final but they'll always be beatable.
