I bought a powell cruiser board online yesterday. comes in the mail on friday. More than stocked, really. This year has been complete and utter ****, I deserve the treat.

That said I was always a better snowboarder than skateboarder. For a week I managed to pull of no complies and kickflips. Then I broke my board. And that was a couple months ago, haven't had wheels beneath the feets since. I crave snowboarding so bad, haven't been in quite a few years but I was bombin double blacks at age 11. Hopefully by winter this year I'll be able to make it out to somewhere with snow, meet some chill people, and have a real cool time. Until then, come friday, I'l have my skateboard and the Sunset Avenues to keep me company.

I used to skate a bit but didn't bother too much with tricks.

I have gotta step up on the Gator board its perfectly made for my big feets with the concave lines for kick flips.

I'm guessing Bob must be a fan of Gonzo. Gonzales was a God in street skate.

that link is broke :(

yeah The Gonz is and always has been a hero :)

Eh they start out about 115 for the Psycho Sticks. Gonzales is my favorite street skater for sure, but I also dig on Vallely's approach even though hes an *******.

Never attempted this myself, though it's fun to watch a competent skateboarder zooming around. What I really like is the way this sport developed out of the enthusiasm of urban teenagers who made it so popular that local councils started constructing designated areas for skateboarders. Power To The People !

The History of Skateboarding in Two Clips:-

(i) Central London in the '80s: skateboarders spontaneously adopt a left-over pedestrian area under Waterloo Bridge.
(ii) Mexico 2001: council added this well-designed skateboarding area to a local park.

I was terribly unskilled and took some brutal wipeouts.

Yes, it looks incredible painful to learn, and frankly less fun than riding a bike. I can understand its popularity in places like London, where it's dangerous to ride a bike in the streets, but in smaller cities I'm surprised at how popular skateboarding has remained, despite so many tumbles onto concrete...ouch!

^ Wow, that's extraordinary, DWV! It even has the pleasant surprise of Willie The Pimp at 2:30.
Richie Jackson is so dexterous that if I had a skateboard, I think I'd just throw it away in frustration after watching his vid.
