Congratulations to Stephanie Roche

Who? Think this deserves its own little thread.
Although she didn't win, Irish girl Stephanie Roche had her goal chosen in the top three of the world, and was only beaten in the FIFA Pushkas Award by James Rodriguez. Stephanie was not playing in the World Cup or in any national team at the time (though she does play for Ireland) and is the first Irish person and the first ever woman to have her goal considered. She received over a million votes and came in second, ahead of Van Persie.

Although she didn't win, to come second in such a prestigious award and be in such august company is an amazing achievement, and I think she deserves a ton of credit. Also, she looks hot!

Well done Stephanie! You make us proud to be Irish!

van Persie's goal shouldn't have even been on it.

The best goal (of the original nominations) last year was Kasami's.

Jesus christ. Women can't achieve anything without having their looks dragged into it.

The selection was rubbish but she scored the best of the three technically.

No, it's a plus. And she does look hot. It just helps. Made sure both Messi and Henry were looking at her at the awards anyway.

Thierry was the sexiest person there.

This is Kasami's goal. Not even top three.

Ramsey will win it next year btw, may as well not bother with the voting process.

EDIT: & Why was this goal not eligible? - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CQb-yyBBWs

Does anyone know the rules? I agree that even of the ten, which were shortlisted to three, some of them were not what I would call world class goals. And like you say CB, there were better ones that did not make it. Even the World XI I they picked I thought was lacking in certain positions. No Gareth Bale? No Aguerro?

The criteria states the goal should be aesthetically beautiful (and the nominations should include a range of goals - long range strikes, volleys, team moves etc)

It can't be the result of luck or a deflection so I'm assuming that's why Ibrahimovic's isn't allowed.

I was reading about this a while back when the nominations were first put up on the FIFA website, and level of competition was also a factor but I can't find anything about that now.

The forwards were OK imo it was defence and midfield where they picked the wrong players. Aguero doing nothing in the World Cup wouldn't have helped his case.

Goetze > Iniesta
Atleti defenders > Luiz

None of the Brazil defenders were there in person, I don't blame them, must have been too embarrassed.
