I can see history repeating itself easily.
He left Everton, sure... partly for the money.
But also for footballing reasons, what have Everton done in the 6 years since he's left? Nothing.
Wayne however has won 3 league titles and a champions league.
Leaving Manchester United for Manchester City, a team that hasn't won anything in 34 years would be PURELY for the money.
And I think there lies the difference.
We'll see his intentions. If he stays in England, at somewhere like City or Chelsea - we know why he left.
If he goes abroad, he's gone for footballing and personal reasons.
So we'll see. I don't think it'd be a surprise to anyone if he were to leave under a massive cloud, he did leave the club he dreamt of playing for as a child... So we'll see.

I always seem to remember, that Fergie never sells his best players to other Premiership sides. If I`m wrong there, somebody remind me.

I think if Rooney did go to City, it would be the ultimate coup for City, and could really be pivotal in finally moving City ahead of Utd in terms of winning honours.

He refused to sell Heinze(sp?) to Loonypool.
Selling to City, a team with top 4 ambitions would be a terrible mistake, but how much do the powers that be want/need the money?

In Other News: I've just instructed my son to sell Rooney asap in FIFA 11.

I've just got to work out how to sell him to Swindon Town.

Sorry Urban.

I'm selling him in January. Might buy Neymar or Aguero.

I remember the Heinze debacle. The problem that Utd face is that a player like Rooney is almost irreplacable. With legends like Giggs and Scholes really getting on, and the injury prone Ferdinand limping on. Rooney should now be the leader of the team. Without him, I couldn`t see who could step into his shoes.

Didn`t have a good first season at Real, and also clashed with Domenech. I know most of the French team did that, but it still doesn`t serve as a great advert.

But then he could turn out to be the new Cantona, who went to Utd with a bad boy image.

United would build the team around such a talent. A chance he'd never get with Real.
Not the next Cantona...the next Zidane.

Next Zidane is more likely to be Gourcuff from playing style.
