If England finish as runners up in their group tomorrow, they go in the right hand side of this draw. If they win the group, they go into the left side of the draw.

I really hope they aren't playing to win tomorrow. I get arguments for momentum, but look at that draw ffs. Possibly Japan and then Swiss/Sweden to reach the semis.

Dude. If you don't think they're good enough to beat the best, then they shouldn't win the cup anyway.

Go, Croatia!!!

Not really.

The team that should win is the one that gets through their group and then scores more goals than their opponent in the round of 16, QF, SF and final.

England have a better chance of doing that with a good draw.

Knockout cup tournaments are not the same as leagues which are a better measure of the winner's quality as that is consistency over 9 months not 4 weeks. Cups will not always go to the best team. Look at Germany.

But Belgium has to be thinking the same thing.

How do they keep both teams from blasting the ball into their own nets?

You can be punished for it. Think it's bringing the game into disrepute. If proven it would probably be suspended players or kicked out of the competition.

But they still win the group with a draw don’t they?

Depends how many bookings we get.

Gate set to unleash the Sheffield Tevez tonight. Up to nine changes. Telegraph reporting players who are caught deliberately getting bookings will be banned for the next game. Some of the kids should be subbed on and take the one match ban, for England.
