PC Music Program

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone knew of a good music program for recording/mixing music. I've actually never used any sort of music program and am still new to it but if there are any good programs out there that wouldn't be bad for me to try please list them here. Thanks!

pro tools is the industry standard. You can get the consumer version with hardware interface for about $500.

I recommend cakewalk sonar, with some good digging you can get your hands on a copy online.

It depends on how much production ability you are looking for.

audacity is free but extremely limited. unlimited tracks though.
kristal is free and supports asio. 16 tracks only. lacks editing options high end programs have but beats a fourtrack recorder.

but remember you get what you pay for...

FL Studio (Fruityloops)

Nothing is better than that, and the price is great.

Get it.

Sonar is the way to go for PC

I've used Audacity and FruityLoops, they both fulfill my needs. My guitarist uses Pro Tools and that is also pretty fantastic.

There are many to choose from.

ProTools is BY FAR the best to select, but, a bit more on the pricey side.
Logic is good as well, especially for MIDI.

Why not try Cubase? It's decent for PC, and is relatively inexpensive, offers MIDI, and is fairly easy to use...
