How would I record a demo?
I really wanna get some of my songs down on a demo. When i use my laptops recorder, it makes the guitar way to distored, should I put the amp in another room then see if that works or find a new way to record the sound???

How exactly are you recording? Be specific.

I got no mic right now so I'm near the latop when I record and I got my amp on and playing the guitar at the same time but I don't know if the aqmp is way to loud or w/e but my guitar just sounds way to distorted when i play it back

Yea, chances are, if your recording is distorted, you were far too loud. For the laptop mic.
Do yourself (and anyone else who hears your recordings) a favor and buy the following: A decent microphone and an audio interface. You'll get far better results. |
Ill need more money then since only one thing can be plugged into my amp at a time =\. Ill have to work on tht then, thx

You can use the same mic to record the guitar and your vocals if you want, and you're better off recording each thing separately. You can do that provided your music program is a multi-track program. Doing that will give you control of each recorded thing separately. |
Ohh, alright then sounds good haha. Thank you and I'll get working on tht soon then haha. Thanks =D

problem is the only way to test and figure out what those sweet settings are is trial and error. also if you use a lot of live effects, turn them down a notch, then turn them down a little more before recording (especially fuzz or flanger). less is always WAY more when it comes to recording effects. |
Thx, Ill do this then in the meantime since Im looking for a job to pay for all the things i need. Thank you all

no worries, we all started somewhere, i scraped the leftovers of $5/hour for my first few guitars. if you come up with any other questions or run into any other hassles don't hesitate to ask :thumb:
