Low-key Recording Equipment.

Hello all, I am (obviously) 100% new to this forum.

I have been meaning to purchase recording equipment for some time now, but with just recently receiving a multitude of "why don't you record?!", "why aren't you recording?!" and "where's your CD?!"'s, the pressure is on and I need to purchase some equipment.

I'm hoping you folks can give me some advice, I am relatively inexperienced with sound boards and microphones, especially in regards to how much money should be spent on a decent one of each.

The bulk of the music that I would record would be acoustic guitar with vocals. But I would like to record the occasional bit of electric guitar, keyboard, bass and also bongo, or what-have-you. I'd like to have the setup be run mostly through my laptop.

I'd like to shoot for the 2-300 dollar range, but I might do 500 if I see good reason to. Also, I was thinking that I should get two microphones, seeing as it is very difficult for me to separate my vocals and guitar tracks.

If you guys have any input, or would share the devices that you think are the best bang for the buck, that would be fantastic.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Cheers,

Dex.

buy a laptop. Honestly, that can do everything you want it to. As long as you aid it with a software like Cubase, Live, etc.
