help with hip hop and ableton
 

Hi, I am a beginner producer that is interested in making hiphop beats. the software i've bought is ableton live because it was recommended by the music store salesman. I've had it for more than six months and been getting used to the setup. It is a great production software but, I feel that no one uses this for hip hop. The reason being is whenever i go to "youtube" and look up a tutorial with the program, the result is always some guy doing a techno or dubstep beat. It sort off makes me feel like i got the wrong software. If there is anyone that uses ableton to make hip hop beats let me know please. I don't want to let this software go to waste.

Music creation software isn't designed for genre.
Any software can accommodate the creation of whatever you want. It's just about whether or not it offers you the tools to be able to do it effectively. In the case of Hip Hop, pretty much any software will allow that. You're fine with Abelton. When watching the tutorials, don't focus on the style of music, but focus on the methods and techniques they're using to accomplish what they're doing, and just tailor those methods to your style.

If you're trying to learn how to create Hip Hop in general, then it's not software you should be focusing on, so much as general theory, which you'll find elsewhere.

try fruity loops! its very convenient and easy to use.

You can do any type of genre in Ableton. Sometimes it takes a while to truly understand the program and get a feel for it.
Maybe try sampling?
Slower tempos?
Two step?

All of these are common in hip hop and using them will make your track HIP HOP
