Music software advices
 

Hi,

I'm beggining to start using some software to produce music, like fruity loops or sonar, the problem is that i want to be able to do things also in live sections while reproducing my music.
I'm like a lot of styles of music but i really would like to do something like james blake or animal collective. i have a midi keboard and pad if that helps.


Any advice on where to start?

Well.... For live stuff, you can begin by actually learning something about it at first.

But Live stuff is a bit of a hard goal to begin with...

As you evolve your musical perception you'll know what you need to know in order to evolve further.

For what it sounds like you want to do, Ableton is going to be where you will find the most success. That being said, Ableton is also where you will find the most frustration as its all powerful nature gives it a very steep learning curve. If you have some serious time to put in to it combined with a decent amount of intelligence, you can play live with prearranged tracks, set loops, and do just about anything via your pads and midi keyboard. There a ton of resources on forums as well as many helpful tutorials on Youtube, you just have to be dedicated to learning it. I personally prefer to just play instruments but the Ableton performer is all the rage these days. Wish you luck!

I play keuboard and flute bit my mais goal is to use these kind of softwares to play livre, i Jean with the midi keyboard AMD do something Pike James blake and other artista

I also would reccomend Ableton for Live Sessions
 

I use Ableton's Launchpad S, it is a bit confusing at first. But with time and patience like "Jorby" said it is a very powerful and awesome software to use ! I wonder if it's possible to input samples from Pro Tools into Ableton. I use the Mbox 2 for Pro Tools Recordings.
