For those of you who have a band

I have a question for the people who have successfuly started a band. How did you go about doing it? I'm pretty sure how I'm gonna do it. I need some tips, though.

Find three people with really cool haircuts; make em' stuff sock down their pants and come up with a cool intentionally mispelled name with one of the letters backwards.

I played in a few bands when I was in school. Drums in a couple, guitar in another, and bass in a third.

I don't think there's any set way to do it. The way we went about it, we just jammed after school here and there. Learned a few songs. Eventually figured out we weren't that bad, and started getting a set list.

We got pretty good, too. I knew I wasn't gonna be a star, though. LOL. I graduated and went on to be a contributing member of society, and the last I heard, 2 of the guys in our bands still live at home and play clubs on the weekend. C'mon man. LOL.

My advice would be to just jam, and keep on jammin until it clicks.

hhahaahhahahaahahahahahaaha

well, to attemp answering your question. the way my band came together was....my best friend and i were put in a guitar class together last year at our school. sometimes i would spend a day at his house and we would play our guitars and we just started writing songs. once we had the basics for a few songs, we decided to start a whole band so, the guy who is now the lead guitarist was originally on bass and his brother played drums. but our bassist played guitar a lot better than he played bass, so we put him on lead and recruited another bassist. then another of my friends who had been in a band previously that had just recently broken up, decided he wanted to sing for us.

basically, just find people that have the same musical interests as you, and practice with them. try to make up songs. eventually you will meet people or even discover that old friends play instruments and it will sorta just come together. youve got to work at it though, or it will just sound like crap.

good luck

I have writen many songs and I need a band to help me compile it in a nice way. Is it a good idea to hang fliers up in town?

ehh...i dont know. i personally like being in a band made up of people that i know. simply because i know how they will react to different things. if you just want to create a band to see how it turns out, then hell yeah, hang up fliers, put wanted ads in the paper, all that jazz. if and when it comes together, id like to hear it.

by the way, where are you located? i know someone whos looking for a band to sing for.
