Which would be best for experience?

There are pros and cons to having a home studio and using someone else's time in their studio....we all know what they are but to get the best to be the best at what you want to do, which would you prefer more? Does it depend on what you want to do as a producer/singer?

I would luv to have a home studio and do it all by myself a la Jay Reatard. i don't have any ambition to become a famous rock star so i would prefer to have a home studio and learn how to be a decent enough producer just so i could share my songs with my friends and ppl on the web.

I haven't given up on that goal, it's always in the back of my head as a modest goal i can totally achieve if i don't let my 9 to 5 job consume my life.

x2 though I wouldn't mind playing live shows eventually, I'll probably start as soon as this summer if all works put.
