Best Small diaphram condenser mic upto 150$?

Hey,

I am looking for a condensor mic for mainly acoustic guitar + singing recording (As a gift for my boyfriend).

My budget is under $100, but I can push it upto $150.

I researched and narrowed it down to:

Samson CS02 Small Diaphragm Condenser Mic

and

AKG PERCEPTION 170 (I guess there is a 171 model too, any idea which one's better?)

Also, I need a cheap interface under $50, any help??

Thank you!

I would say that for acoustic guitar, it's important to get two mics and do stereo recording. I'd rather have two cheaper mics on a guitar than one expensive one. If guitar and voice is all the song is gonna have, you'd generally pan the guitar mic recordings left and right and then leave the voice in the middle.

But on that budget, it's a little hard to make recommendations other than you should probably check out the used market. Perhaps something like iSK bm-88 might suit you.

I mostly use two Shure KSM-141 mics for regular steel string guitars, but some times also like to use a milab dc-96b. These are out of your budget, but don't be afraid of mixing different types of mics.

You should be aware that recording with multiple mics might introduce phasing problems, but you can generally fix these problems either with mic placement, panning and/or in the DAW after recording.
