Two Drumming Questions

1. What's the best way to end a drum solo?
2. Dose it matter which hand you use to wack the snare? (This one is really important to me.)

1. By kicking it over & lighting one of your own farts
2. Use your head

1. I'm not sure what you mean by 'the best way' anyway. For the final part of the drum solo itself its up to the drummer and his 'creativity' (spasms) to just play a rhythm that works well as and ending phrase.
2. When you'd finish the drum solo, I'd recommend going straight back into roughly whatever the main beat of the song you were playing was - find a neat way to segue from the solo to the main song.

By the way, I'm no great drummer myself but then they rarely know what they're talking (grunting) about anyway.

1. There is no right or wrong way to end a drum solo.

I wouldn't be worrying about drum solos if I were you. You're a beginner so you need to learn the basics first.

2. If you're playing a beat, then use your left hand to hit the snare.

I suppose which hand you use for the snare is all dependent on how you feel most comfortable.

I played drums on a few different bands, and played a few different ways. I'm left handed, but I played drums right handed, meaning, my right hand crossed over the top of my left, and played the high-hat, while my left hand kept time on the snare. However, sometimes, just for fun, I would put the snare & high-hat on the other side of the kit, and my hand's wouldn't cross. My right would still play the high-hat, left playing the snare, and they didn't cross.

Fortunately for me, I could play ther foot-bass equally well with either foot, so switching sides was never an issue.

Find what's comfortable.

You're a little less than thirty years too late.

OK. But I have a few solos without endings.
