good practice amp

need some opinions a good sounding amp for punk/metal between 15-30 watt just for practicing, its a little hard to lug a half-stack around at the drop of a hat.

I would probably reccommend one of the Line6 amps like the Spider for Punk because of the digital effects on board.

for metal, you cannot beat Marshall O.D

Got for one of the Marshall AVT's series. I have the 275 and it kicks butt!

yeah the AVT's are bad ass, that's what i've got for my half stack an AVT150H with a 1960 angled cab underneath. and i did have a line 6 spider 112before, but i had a really bad experience with it. damn thing fried on me 2 weeks after i bought it, then i sent it away for warranty work, didnt get it back for 6 months and it was still broken when i got back. by then i'd had enough so, i got a solid state fender. and of course, after i traded it in it came back to the music store a week later working fine. i could have ripped my hair out.

line6 are terrible for their response times. They'r ealways constantly late for store deliveries in the uk as well!

i just wish they didnt have so many tempting products.

if all you want is a little 15 or 30 watt amp for playing around the house, then really theres no need for a top line model. Line 6s are alright, but seriously if youre just going to be messing around with it then theres no need to spend that much cash. Go to a pawn shop or search online and pick up a little Crate amp. You can get a nice crunch with the built in overdrive they have, and theyre pretty inexpensive, leaving you with more cash for a nice gig amp. you can find them on ebay all the time, and probably pick one up for around 40 bucks.

Fender Frontman 15 watt is a good choice too. It is a little more expensive than the crate amp but they last longer and can be lounder with out feedback.
