I am buying a Barrington soprano saxophone, which is Chinese made and really cheap. I have been playing a Vito tenor saxophone for the past 9 years, with a C* classical mouthpiece. Its a fun setup.

I have a question for any guitar experimentors or scholars out there..have you ever heard of using all humbucker type coils on a strat as opposed to the single?? Or can you even do that?

i mix humbuckers with single coil - i have an Ibanez RG-7

i used to have two single-coils but it sounds too squealy and I hate that microphoney hum/feedback

i use a British Metal Master distortion pedal with the bass all the way up through a cheap china-made Epiphone amp with full overdrive and it sounds a bit like a Big Muff

I also have a DOD wah-wah, not exactly a Dunlop but its shorter range makes it easier for me to make regular wahs to the beat for those 70s sounding funk

i also use a slide i cut from a clothes-hanging stand (it's an aluminium tube)

I use a coral reef pick i fashioned myself - it just sounds very harsh on the attack

so you have the standard humbucker along with 2 single coils?...nice innovation with the slide by the way

Does that pretty much cut out all the interference that contributes to the buzzing you tend to get out of the single coils?

yeah, and I still get the bluesy tone I like by just using the single coil

and all three in unison gives a great metallic tone

and the first humbucker is very funky

which is great since I play multiple genres
