What are you learning?

This forum doesn't get much attention.

So, what song/composition are you learning at the moment?

I'm working on Haunted Cathouse by the Nekromantix and Five-O Ford by RHH.

I'll make up my own thing here because im not learning any one song, but I have been very attuned to learning to play mobil instruments. Playing piano doesn't lend itself to fireside jams while camping.

As such for the better part of 5 years now im been (painfully) slowly learning guitar, but what I think is more fun, is harmonica. If you're ever in a network of acoustic players, it never hurts to learn this. Especially if you're looking to sing, the harmonica allows you to fill in gaps where normally you'd just be hanging out. Its easy enough to learn to play competently enough. I don't practice nearly enough, but im sure if I did, I'd be pretty good.

As a side note, I stupidly bought an A, if you're getting a diatonic, get a C, it allows you to play with more normal chords and scales.

I hate covers, unless it's your own rendition and the song is not played out. (or unless it's just for learning and not audience torture) I'm currently working on an acoustic version of Pump Up the Jam, because I love my audience.

Learning how to do drum parts from different bands like KoRN and others. I am also learning how to do the theme from Halo 2 on drums as well as Mortal Kombat. I still am learning how to do them but when I complete them I will let you know.

I just finished learning some Dresden Dolls on piano. Not sure what I'm going onto next. Thinking about composing.

I don't know much about piano but composing sounds cool. It is always fun to play show or game themes when people put you on the spot to play something. Most of the time I play the tetris theme to throw people off when they ask me to play something.

I'm learning how to play in 12/8 time... just for kicks.

I think my guitarists are too lazy to learn to play in weird time signatures. I also don't think they'd see any reason to.

What is the difference in timings? I know that is 12 beats to a bar and 8 bars to a measure but how does that change the rhythm of a song?
