Favourite Guitar Brand?

I'm a Gibson guy, my fave being an old Les Paul DeLuxe with the mini-buckers. All guitars have their uses, though. Even a crummy guitar can have a useful tone given the right song.

Strat guy myself. My first good guitar was a Gibson SG simply because I thought it looked really badass, but I found the fretboard to be way too thick for my liking. Then I got a Strat and never looked back since. I can play for hours on end with that thing with no end to my creativity (at least to me...maybe it sounds horrible I wouldn't know). I still break out the SG when I want to get a bit heavier (I do still love the humbucker sound), but the Strat is my go to guitar.

I'm more of a Strat man too, but my first guitar was a Les Paul, which was more comfortable to play but my Strat sounds far better.

I learned to play on an antique Acoustic Martin.

Hi there,

I've been playing guitar and bass for around 40 years and from all the guitars I've played my current favourites for different reasons are:

1) Godin Solidac which plays really well, is real comfy, well made and is extremely versatile with all it's different possible sounds.

2) My small and very light 1990 Patrick Eggle New York in Candy Apple Red.

I think all these folks who just say 'Gibson' or 'Fender' are misguided and that really doesn't mean much. There are so many variations that are sold under these names, some very good but others real crappy. It's just like saying a Ford is the best car I've ever driven or a Volkswagen ?

Well you would be right but this is favorite guitar BRAND not model. If it were listing specefics than yeah good choices but this was meant to be a general and broad answer.

Seems a bit of a whitewash question though. Like I said, we all know there are good and bad guitars produced by most manufacturers. It's like asking who is your favourite camera manufacturer? Surely it all depends on what camera you have?

Besides that, there's loads of folks saying things like, "I'm a Strat Guy" or I love my Les Paul". As far as I know they are both models of guitars as well and not BRANDS as you say.

Just an opinion...

I'd say my favourite brand would be Fender, seeing as telecasters and Jazzmasters are my favourite guitars. I used to really like SG's, because you can get a good distortion sound, and it looks sweet. Then I heard it's clean tone and it scarred me for life.
