Fender Strat. Best guitar I've ever owned.

SATCHMO 02-12-2008 08:19 PM

Any Telecaster, but especially a thinline. Teles are one of the few guitars thst you can identify by ear. I live to hate Les Pauls. The body is to unbalanced. The Action is great on them from my experience, I hate the tone if its not overdriven. To me not a versatile guitar if your not a hard rocker.

*sprints to ebay*

I use a cheapy Epi Les Paul Special II. It's my first guitar, so I didn't bother to get anything really fancy.

Imma save up and get one of these in the future. Either one would be fine.

Comus 02-19-2008 05:16 PM

Les Pauls are the most beautiful things ever.

Lizzie 02-19-2008 05:29 PM

A Les Paul Classic is what I will buy as soon as I get enough money

Halfa 02-19-2008 06:26 PM

ehhhhhh
i personally think LP's are overrated
i'd rather have a 335 if i was gonna buy an expensive gibson

but then again.......LP's can play a lot more than 335's can.......
so who knows.
both will go in my future guitar collection

Comus 02-19-2008 06:59 PM

I've only got an epiphone les paul custom white, it's still beautiful tho.

A friend of mine has the same guitar, I believe he has more $s in the epiphone than he paid for a new gibson, les paul studio. He put the epiphone in the shop to have new frets installed. It really is a nice looking guitar.

Comus 02-20-2008 06:19 PM

It's so ****ing easy to play too, I had heard the epiphone les pauls were awkward but that's just not the case.

Halfa 02-20-2008 07:30 PM

yea...big thing with epi's is just the electronics. rewire it, set it up properly, and possibly put in new pickups and ur more or less set

thats what i'm plannin on doing with an Explorer. a buddy of mine is really really into guitar tech stuff so i'ma gonna let him have AT it

TheCaster 02-20-2008 08:17 PM

0.o im too damn lazy to rewire stuff... i just play it how it comes and find stuff with what i want on it..

Halfa 02-20-2008 09:36 PM

just find a crazy guitar tech friend! when i asked my buddy what i'd need, not only did he give me every part plus prices, but he offered to do it all for free (i trust him cuz he did the same thing to a squire and it came out beautifuly)

Farfisa 02-21-2008 06:12 AM

Hagstrom pickups are the shizniz though.......I'm gonna buy some on the internet soon and put them in my '72 tele.......

Musique N Style 02-23-2008 04:11 PM

I have an emotional attachment with the ebony Les Paul with the cream pickguard and Stratocasters, in general. The Les Paul's are just so beautiful and the Strats just feel so good.

However, I love the Ibanez Iceman...that guitar is visually ****ing cool and it sounds pretty good.

Halfa 02-23-2008 08:07 PM

When it comes to Ibanez...i prefer the artcore...as i said

but i'm prolly gonna go out and get an Epi Explorer next....redo all the electronics and slap some EMG's or somethin on it.....

i think people seriously underrate the possibility of lower brand guitars...because they dont realize they can modify it and make it almost as good, if not just as good, as a top brand

coltonbraun 02-25-2008 09:48 AM

i'd say:

Epi Casino (Vintage Sunburst)
12-String Gretch (Ebony)
Gibson Firebird V (Vintage Sunburst)
Les Paul (White w/ Gold Hardware)

all electric...

thats at the top of the list...

i should probably learn how to play the guitar decently first...lol

.... except you gotta pay almost as much to get the modifications to get it as good as a top brand....

sweet_nothing 02-26-2008 02:28 PM

I would kill for an Rickenbacker.

No amount of electronic modification will give a guitar the same feel as a top end model from say, ibanez or even BC Rich.

Sure, you might get the sound a lot better, and you could spend a whole heap of cash on new hardware for it, but at the end of it all you're still going to be constrained by how that particular neck and body joint feel in the hands.

ObiSobi 02-26-2008 05:33 PM

Strats are good guitars. Pretty universal, you can do pretty much anything on it pretty well.

well....i'd have to say that i'm quite use to really hard setups...so for me the issue of how it feels isnt quite as big (altho it still has a major effect on playing). the big reason i'm even getting an epi explorer is purely a cheap way of getting a nice metal sound, as every single guitar in my entire house is entirely made to play blues and classic rock. plus, it supplies what u may want to call a "beater" guitar. its just a cheap effective way of getting a guitar for something specific....and epiphone really isnt as bad as anyone says. if it works its fine for me.

TheCaster 02-26-2008 09:02 PM

but still, why spend as much to fix up a crappy guitar instead of buy yourself i nice new one..

yeah, if he's got the cash, its a lot more fun to tinker around with a guitar than buying a top of the line guitar that you can't or wont really do anything to.

as said above
maybe ur strapped for cash
its just fun to tinker with guitars
or maybe u dont wanna make a big investment on a guitar that u dont want really badly and thus u just wanna spend less money, even if you have the dough to pull of a nice guitar

tkpb938 02-27-2008 06:57 PM

Ibanez is where its at. They're soooo great!

FireInCairo 08-15-2008 07:37 AM

I love telecasters
particularly the tele plus from the 80s and 90s
I have a 1985 schecter PT which is pretty awesome, but the neck doesnt really suit my hands
My custom maton Ms500 on the other hand is perfection

guitargirl_93 08-23-2008 08:19 PM

I love my Gibson Explorer Pro. I also love Gibson SG's and Les Paul's.

sweet_nothing 08-23-2008 11:43 PM

wow you must be rich

guitargirl_93 08-24-2008 01:37 AM

haha I'm not rich. I save so long to get my guitars, and it's totally worth it.

sweet_nothing 08-24-2008 01:59 AM

well then you must have alot patience because that guitar isn't cheap

guitargirl_93 08-24-2008 03:32 AM

Oh I have patience haha and it's a funny story about the Gibson Explorer Pro..Let's just say that limited edition guitars make you go insane and even cry.
