Default Sampling And Electronic Drum Questions.

I've been wanting to get into sampling and more electronic music for a long time and have been wondering about a few things.

1. What type of programs would you use to sample music. How would you sample during a live show?

2. How would you best pull off having a live drummer (regular kit) and electronic drums in a live show?

I play mostly alt rock stuff similar to Jane's Addiction and Alice in Chains and even Beck type stuff and I've been wanting to incorporate electronic stuff for a while. Any tips will be very helpful.

don't really have an answer for your first question.

as for the 2nd. i'd build a hybrid kit. just stick electronic drum pads between the regular drums as needed. it might look a little unsightly but it would allow to have both elements present.

Yeah, I've seen Nine Inch Nails do that. I don't have a kit though, and I typically play guitar/bass. About how much would that cost do you think?

all depends on how much you want to spend and how hard you want to look. a friend of mine who did it got a ridiculous deal on a pearl travel kit (half price) and then got an OLD electronic drum kit for under $200. in total the whole thing cost him less than a grand.

keep an eye on your local pawn shops and sites like craiglist and kijiji.
