Guitar Trouble
 

I just Recieved an Ibanez RG120 model for my birthday in may. beautiful and easy guitar to use. however, it dosnt fit me. im into playing classic 60's and 70's music, not metal which is the major function for an ibanez. i dont have the money for a fender or a gibson... what should i do?

Sell it.

Don't do anything, just learn to play. A good guitar player sounds like himself through any rig. Not to mention it seems like you're just taking things by face value. Ibanez make some very versatile instruments.

I agree. You'll eventually learn to play with it and get past the shape/looks of the guitar. I'm like that with RG's myself but they are very good guitars at any price range.

Squier or Epiphones are cheap. Not great quality, yes, but they have the same basic functions.

And I love my Ibanez. It is an acoustic, but whatever.

while i agree, the 'pointiness' of an RG120 does scream metal. not exactly my first (or 10th) choice to play beatles tunes.

the OP basically has 2 choices, either stick with it and use it to develop technique while saving up for something a little more vintage looking. or sell it, and risk offending whoever it is that gave it as a birthday gift.

i say stick with it and use it to develop technique while he saves up for something a little more vintage because by the time he has enough saved up for what he wants he'll be a lot better than he is now and he will also enjoy playing the one he waited to buy a little bit more.

think of it as someone trimming down and getting fit to impress a lucky lady.

The Ibanez is quite a "Friendly" guitar to get your technique down.
Why not keep it, and save for exactly what you want.
Always handy to have a spare.
