Default Does this drum set look good to you?

Hey everyone. I've been playing guitar/bass/piano etc for a while and I decided I want to learn drums as well.

I'm going to be getting an acoustic set, from $400-500 is my limit since I'm just starting out. I did some scouting and I came upon this: Well, apparently I can't post a link yet. But I'll paste his description.

"Pearl 5 Piece Forum Series Drum Set *GREAT CONDITION* - $400

I am selling my black drum set which was purchased about 3-4 years ago. This is a great drum set and I have barley played it. I need to get rid of it because it is taking up space and collecting dust. The drum set comes with: 20"x18" Bass, 10"x8" & 12"x9" Toms, 14"x14" Floor Tom, 14"x5.5" Snare, 2 Tom Arms, B70W Boom Cymbal Stand, Drum Throne, P120P Eliminator Bass Drum Pedal, H72W Hi Hat Stand, S70W Snare Stand, 14" Hi Hat Cymbals, 16" Crash Cymbal, 20" Ride Cymbal.
The only thing that seems to show signs of use is the skin on the snare drum that lost some of its whiteness from me playing it (See picture). "

$400 for a used Pearl, and I live very close to the seller so pickup would be very easy. I may buy new cymbals and eventually a snare, but does this set look good to start out on?

Thanks for any help/advice.

I would have to say no. I owned a forum when i started then for about years after. After that time grew out of it even with upgrading and adding things. I suggest spending a little more and building your own, or buy a nicer one used. Perhaps a used Export (the step up from the forum)

Premier sets are pretty decent in the lower end. I'm also a big fan of the Yamaha and Mapex sets in that price range. Owned and still own a Yamaha Stage Custom set which was 650 brand new and to this day sounds great. My buddy also owns a (fairly inexpensive) Premier set which he refuses to replace. He's used it in the studio many times to great effect, and plays it live every show with his band. Not a bad choice. Glad you like it.
