good beginner guitar

well, i just started playing guitar and right now i have one of those little crappy ones that come in the packs, what are some fairly good guitars that would be about $300 to $600, also another thing, what kind of pedal would make hendrix stuff sound good?

you should be able to score a mexican stratocaster in that price range. as for pedals wah-wah and fuzz bare minimum. a good flanger or phaser will help get the trippy underwater sounds too.

Whatever guitar you end up with, get a guitar tech to set it up properly for you, i.e. make sure the intonation is good, no fret buzz etc.

It makes the world of difference, and most good music shops will do it for free in that price range anyway.

Hendrix sounds? If you`re looking to upgrade Amps i`d recommend Vox Valvetronix for the wah/phaser effects that are built in - otherwise there are plenty of pedals that will do the job - good luck.

id go with an OLP or an ibanez jetking
the fender and gibson stuff in that price range is crap and very generic
give something more interesting a spin

epiphone has a great acoustic guitar rosewood sides and back for about 595.00 and they are like the 3000.00 Martins without the Martin name, good sound, cedar top. Nice neck. I don't own the epiphone but I did see it at guitar center. It's the best bet you have for a pro guitar at such low prices under 600.00. A good guitar these days is 1,500.oo to 5,000.00 on Taylor,Martin and Ovations, gibson then guild which I consider the best guitars in the world
